Like many Illinois counties, ours is home to people who come from a variety of countries. At this month's Keeping it Local, we will learn about the current immigrant-refugee experience here in our county.
What issues and concerns are facing immigrants and refugees at this time? What services or programs are available for their support? What opportunities exist? In what ways can allies best help?
Panelists who will share their insights and experiences include:
Maria Jimenez, Executive Director, Immigrant Services of Champaign-Urbana
Lisa Wilson, Executive Director, The Refugee Center
Lucia Maldonado, Latino Family Liaison, Urbana School District
Francisco Baires, Director, New American Welcome Center
League Member Ann Prisland will serve as moderator of the program.
