To write the structure for organic molecule 1-Hexanol (also called Hexan-1-ol ) we’ll start by writing a xix carbon chain. 1-Hexanol is a alcohol with six carbon atoms connected to an -OH functional group (an alcohol).
Since it is 1-Hexanol we’ll put the -OH on Carbon atom number 1. This gives us the correct structure for 1-Hexanol
We can also write the structure using straight lines without the element symbols, which is a sort of molecular structure shorthand. Finally, we could represent the structure with molecular models to provide further information about the molecular geometry.
