01/11/2009. Overall not bad. Matt's technique is what we are all aiming towards. Main points to focus on are:
Tim - Great effort to get forward! Apart from that you are using the top hand to recover your paddle too much, and its going too high. Top hand should start and remain at the head, but not come up too high. You can correct this by using your body more when exiting the water and recovering to the front.
Sean - Pulling out too soon. You need more body throughout the stroke, and initiate the exit with the top hand a little less quickly after beginning the stroke. If you watch the footage you are exiting slightly before Joel.
Joel - Great reach, Great setup at the catch, just need to be a bit sharper and exaggerate the pull at the front of the stroke even more.
Matt - Great technique, wouldn't change too much about it to be honest
Roger - Good setup at the front, but you are pulling too far back and lagging behind at the back of the stroke. Need to get the blade out by the knee and use our core to hold us upright and recover the paddle to the front again
Cheng - You can see when you imitate a bit of Matt's aggression on the catch you get a good idea of what we are after. Your top hand is dragging back to your head throughout the stroke. We need it to be more of a pivot point so once you hit the water hold the top hand out in front of you rather than dragging it towards you.
Arthur - Good strength in the water. It looks like you are very stiff around the waist and your top hand is too bent. Straighten it out infront of you a bit more and allow your body weight to come forwards a bit more before you pull back. The top hand can afford to drive down a bit more. It seems to get a bit stuck before it really drives in deep.
