In this video we will:
1) Review the sequence of events that have led to the passing of the new Hate Crime Act in Ireland.
2) Review all three voting records (two in Dail Eireann and one in Seanad Eireann) that have contributed to the passing of this legislation.
3) Examine the content of the new Hate Crime Act and how it may potentially be used to criminalize speech.
4) Discuss the multiple different pieces of legislation that the Government and Gardai currently have at their disposal to criminalize speech, regardless of the fact that the Hate Speech element of this bill has not been passed.
