The palace, located in Piazza di Spagna since 1622, has been decorated for the occasion with a mural featuring a painting by Velázquez of #Pope Innocent X, as well as the Count of Oñate, the original owner of the house that became the embassy.

The Ambassador of Spain to the Holy See, Isabel Celaá, explains that Spain was in a period of great prosperity and influence in the 17th century, leading the Catholic world and the Counter-Reformation against Lutheranism. T

he mural's creator, Roberto Lucifero, hopes to capture the attention of Romans and make them aware of the significance of the Spanish Embassy in that location. The Embassy has also launched a program of cultural activities to celebrate the close relationship between Spain and the Vatican.
