In John Chapter 12, the shadow of the Cross begins to fall over the ministry of Jesus. The time for signs is ending; the "Hour has Come" for the Son of Man to be glorified.
The chapter begins with an act of extravagant worship: Mary of Bethany breaks a jar of costly perfume to anoint Jesus' feet, preparing Him for burial, while Judas Iscariot looks on with greed.
Then, the scene shifts to the Triumphal Entry (Palm Sunday). The crowds wave palm branches and shout "Hosanna!", hailing Jesus as the King of Israel. Yet, Jesus declares that His Kingdom comes not through conquest, but through death: "Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds."
