The Irish United Nations worker shot and wounded near the Serbia-Kosovo border said on Wednesday that he was attacked by a suspected Albanian militia group.
It is thought that a new Albanian militia group with the title U-C-P-N-B - the "Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac" is carrying out operations over the border in Serbia.
Marcel Grogan believes he's the first victim of the new group.
Irishman Marcel Grogan is recovering from his injuries at a U-S military base in Kosovo.
The U-N worker was shot in the leg on Tuesday by unknown assailants on the Serbian side of the provincial boundary.
Grogan is pretty certain that his attackers were not Serbian.
SOUNDBITE (English)
"I could say they weren't in the Serbian military or police uniforms. They were in camouflage uniforms but I don't know what the organisation was."

The U-N worker believes that the group could well be an Albanian militia group - the U-N-C-P-B (The Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac) who are carrying out operations over the border into Serbia at the present time.
SOUNDBITE (English)
"They were in fatigues, so they were dressed as military, they were militia of some kind. They had some kind of insignia but I wasn't able to spot what organisation they belonged to. They didn't speak English, I think they were Albanian speaking. I don't speak Albanian so we couldn't communicate very well."

Grogan appears to have been an innocent victim after stumbling across the group by accident.
SOUNDBITE (English)
"The initial group that fired on us were five to ten people. All were armed, all were wearing uniforms, and we came across two further groups of militia of a similar nature and size, one at the edge of the village, and one inside the village. I think about 30 I saw that time."

The shooting took place in the same region of southern Serbia where Russia claims a member of the U-N-backed ethnic Albanian Kosovo Protection Force was killed in a shootout with Serbian police.
