In a major move to protect its maritime borders, the Philippines has signed a deal with French shipbuilder OCEA to deliver 40 brand-new fast patrol boats. These vessels—comprising the FPB 110 and FPB 98 designs—are set to improve coastal patrols, deter foreign harassment, and support maritime law enforcement operations.
Half of the ships will be built in France, while the other half will be constructed locally in the Philippines as part of a long-term industrial partnership. Funded through France’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), this project is a game-changer for national security and regional stability.
