Originally built in 1939 for the film "Arizona" (1940), Old Tucson Studios has served as a filming location for over 400 movies and television shows. Many of Hollywood's most iconic westerns were filmed at these studios.
Some of the most famous movies are: "Winchester '73" (1950; w/Jimmy Stewart), "The Last Outpost" (1951; w/future President Ronald Reagan), "Gunfight at the OK Corral" (1957; w/Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas), "Rio Bravo" (1959; w/John Wayne and Dean Martin), "Charro!" (1969; w/Elvis Presley), "Deathwish" (1974; w/Charles Bronson), "The Outlaw Josey Whales" (1976; w/Clint Eastwood), and "Tombstone" (1993; w/Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer). Notable TV shows that were shot in Old Tucson are: "Rawhide," "Have Gun will Travel," "Bonanza," and "Gunsmoke."
