Описание: Tatsuki Fujimoto’s celebrated coming-of-age manga Look Back is adapted into a live-action feature film by Hirokazu Koreeda, the acclaimed director of Shoplifters and Monster.

Tatsuki Fujimoto is a manga artist whose works have received widespread acclaim both in Japan and internationally. Winner of the Shogakukan Manga Award and numerous other honors, Fujimoto continues to attract global attention, with the animated feature Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc scheduled for release in 2025. Among his works, Look Back became a major cultural phenomenon upon its publication on Shōnen Jump+ in 2021. It topped the male readers’ ranking of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022 (This Manga Is Amazing! 2022) and earned enthusiastic support from creators and manga fans alike. In 2024, it was adapted into an animated feature that went on to win the Animation of the Year Award at the 48th Japan Academy Film Prize. This film marks the first live-action adaptation of a work by Tatsuki Fujimoto.

The film is directed, written, and edited by Hirokazu Koreeda, who won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for Shoplifters (2018). Internationally acclaimed for works such as Broker (2022), which earned the Best Actor Award at Cannes, and Monster (2023), which won the festival’s Best Screenplay Award, Koreeda remains one of the most celebrated filmmakers working today. According to the director, he first encountered Look Back by chance in a bookstore and was deeply moved by both its story and the creator’s unwavering artistic conviction. The film marks his first collaboration with Tatsuki Fujimoto.

Fujino, a young girl with complete confidence in her talent for drawing manga, and Kyomoto, a reclusive classmate whose artistic ability far surpasses her own, are brought together by their shared passion for creating manga. As in the original work, the film follows the thirteen-year journey of the two characters from their elementary school days onward, portraying it with remarkable sensitivity and a vivid sense of youth. Filming took place primarily in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture, across all four seasons, allowing the changing landscapes of spring, summer, autumn, and winter to become an integral part of the film.

Playing Fujino is Natsuki Deguchi, known for her leading roles in the Netflix series The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House and the films I Have a S/e/c/r/e/t/ and ALL GREENS. Aju Makita, who has starred in Happiness and VANISHING WORLD and appeared in numerous Koreeda works including AFTER THE STORM, takes on the role of Kyomoto. The younger versions of Fujino and Kyomoto are played by Fūri Nanase and Rokka Okada, respectively.

Bound by their devotion to drawing manga, Fujino and Kyomoto spend an irreplaceable period of their lives together. Their story of growth and loss unfolds on screen.
