Led Zeppelin II was released on October 22, 1969 in the United States and October 31, 1969 in the UK. Six of the nine songs on the album were originals while the three others were inspired heavily by blues songs. Many fans and critics cite Led Zeppelin II as one of the greatest albums of all time. The album sleeve was inspired by a photo from World War I of the Jagdstaffel 11 Division of the German Air Force, the Flying Circus led by the Red Baron.
