✅ EPFO to Increase PF Salary Limit from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 — Explained (Point-by-Point)
🔹 What is happening?

EPFO is planning to increase the salary limit for mandatory PF & pension (EPS) contribution.

Current limit: ₹15,000

Proposed new limit: ₹25,000

🔹 Who will be covered?

Employees earning up to ₹25,000 basic salary will have to contribute to EPF & EPS.

Earlier, only employees earning up to ₹15,000 were mandatory members.

This change will bring 1 crore+ additional employees under PF.

🔹 Who will not be affected?

Employees earning above ₹25,000 basic salary can still choose to opt-out of PF (if not already a PF member).

🔹 Current PF Contribution Rule

Both employee & employer contribute:

Employee: 12%

Employer: 12%

Mandatory only if basic salary ≤ ₹15,000 (present rule)

🔹 Proposed Rule

PF will become mandatory for those with basic salary up to ₹25,000

Employees with ₹15,001 – ₹25,000 (who were not under PF earlier) will now be included compulsorily

Higher pension cover (EPS)

Take-home salary may reduce (as PF deduction will apply)
