Today’s veterans that are gone but not forgotten are the KERBOW brothers. On January 3, 1943 the KERBOW family of Dallas Texas lost their 1st son in World War Two. Mr. and Mrs. Earl B. Kerbow 1st son to die in World war Two was Staff Sergeant EARL L. KERBOW United States Army Air Corps Killed in Action on January 3, 1945, Earl was born on September 13, 1921, in Texas, and attended Sunset High School in Dallas Texas. He volunteered for service in the Army Air Force on January 14, 1942, at the age of 20. He served in the Army Air Corps; and trained at Sheppard Field in Texas, and served overseas, stationed at a base in England. Sgt. Kerbow served in 368th Bomber Squadron, 306th Bomber Group, Heavy 8th Army Air Force and participated in raids over Western Europe from September, 1942, until January 3, 1943, on which date he was killed in action on a combat mission on Saint Nazaire Submarine Base. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal with three Clusters, Presidential Citation European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Theater of operations medal, and The World War Two Victory Medal. 21 Months after the death of EARL Mr. and Mrs. KERBOW lost their 2nd son in the war Staff Sergeant JOSEPH E. KERBOW United States Army Air Corps was Killed in Action on October 8, 1944. JOSEPH KERBOW, was born December 17, 1922, he attended Adamson High School in Dallas, and volunteered for the Army Air force on January 13, 1942 at the age of 19. He served in the Army Air Corps; trained at Sheppard Field, Texas, and Elgin Field, Florida; he began overseas duty in North Africa, with the 445th Bomber Squadron, 321st Bomber Group, Medium, 12th Army Air Force. He served in the air offensive over Sicily, Sardinia, Italy, and participated in forty — seven combat missions. Sergeant Kerbow was killed in action on October 8, 1944, in a raid over Greece.
