Описание: In the 26th century, the SPARTAN-II program was a secret project spearheaded by Doctor Catherine Elizabeth Halsey. Its purpose was to eliminate colonial insurrection against the United Earth Government, or UEG. Rather than fighting a costly full-scale war, Spartans could be used to perform surgical strikes against specific targets, demoralizing and removing opposition where needed. Instead of recruit from the ranks of experienced soldiers in the United Nations Space Command, or train young adults, the minds behind the program opted to abduct six-year-old children and transform them into ideal warriors.

Although a limited number of Spartans were first fielded against the insurrection, most of them were thrown headlong into a new war. The Covenant alliance, a religious hegemony with incredibly sophisticated technology, came into contact with humanity suddenly in 2525, and shortly afterward declared a war of total annihilation on all mankind.

The Spartans found a nobler purpose in their battle to prevent humanity's extinction, with the greatest of their number questioning whether he could kill another human being if he were ordered to do so.

Spartans Joshua-029 and William-043 were two warriors whose missions against the Covenant are the stuff of legend.
