Introducing the ZAP Electric Taxi for Automotive Fleet Markets

Описание: In late 2009, our designers began an engineering project to integrate an advanced electric drive train into a Jonway A380 SUV from China. This was conceived as a taxi or limousine for passenger transportation that could provide a possible solution for China to reduce tailpipe emissions and dependency on oil while offering clean technologies and greater energy efficiency. The new vehicle included one of the most powerful electric motors ZAP has ever used, combined with a lithium battery system using a proprietary Battery Management System. The first ZAP Jonway SUV was sent to China at the beginning of 2010 for presentation to executives of Jonway Automobile, who approved moving forward with a joint development contract to build more of them to demonstrate in China. In February 2010, a prototype SUV was sent to South Korea for the Korea Electric Vehicle Challenge, its first public demonstration. The new electric SUV was highlighted at the 2010 Bejing Motor Show. Following the completion of several electric SUVs, they were demonstrated as electric taxis in Shanghai for the 2010 World Fair. We anticipate production by the second quarter of fiscal year 2011, targeted towards government and corporate fleets.
