Debut Marathon Race Report // Nice-Cannes 2022

Описание: The marathon is a BEAST of a distance! My long awaited debut marathon finally happened! I ran the French Riviera Marathon Nice-Cannes just a few weeks ago! It did NOT turn out how I wanted, but I finished and learned a lot! Join me for a (way too) long race recap :)

The marathon goes along the French riviera from the city of Nice, to Cannes. It's also known as Marathon Des Alpes Maritimes due to the close proximity of the southern french alps looming just behind the coastline.

My goal was to run 3:06 - after a mediocre quality build up following injury last summer and poor recovery due to moving into my new house! But I felt confident - and still is - that I could theorethically run that time.

On race day however, the temperature was a whopping 25 degrees Celsius in the SHADE! So in the sun it was around 30 probably, and way to hot for running fast! Personally I don't handle heat well at all so for me this was a devastating situation.

I ended up fighting the battle of my life just to keep running, and got across the finish line in 3:30 - which is a respectable time, but when you consider that I passed halfway at around 1:33 (on schedule for 3:06) you realise that the second half was preeetttty slow for my level of fitness.

Anyways, I'm happy to have completed the race, and I'm proud of my willpower and strength! I'm not disappointed actually. It is was it is. New goals on the horizon!
