on Saturday we had an exciting first visit to the West End's brand new theatre, @sohoplace which is an absolutely beautiful space!
This production of Euripides' Medea is directed by Dominic Cooke, and uses the 1946 adaptation by Robinson Jeffers. It stars Sophi Okonedo and Ben Daniels, who in this version plays all the male roles.
I'm a big fan of Sophie Okonedo - and what a pleasure to see her at her best. Her performance gave Medea so much poise and composure, which made the tragedy of the final scenes even more disturbing to witness.
Ben Daniels is equally brilliant - switching effortlessly between the male characters, bringing intensity to Jason and playing Aegeus in a whole new light.
Playing at @sohoplace until 22nd April.
