বিগত আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের সুবিধাভোগী পুলিশ কর্মকর্তাদের পদ পদবী এবং পদোন্নতি নিয়ে পুলিশ বিভাগে অস্থিরতা কমছেই না। আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের নানা অনিয়ম-অপরাধের দোসর হিসেবে যারা কাজ করেছেন তাদের পদায়ন এবং পদোন্নতির ঘটনায় ক্ষুব্ধ বিগত সময়ে বঞ্চিত এবং নিগৃহীত কর্মকর্তারা। পদোন্নতির কাতারে এমন কিছু পুলিশ কর্মকর্তা আছেন যাদের বিরুদ্ধে বৈষম্যবিরোধী ছাত্র-জনতার আন্দোলনে গুলি চালানোর নির্দেশের মতো ভয়াবহ অভিযোগ আছে। অতিরিক্ত আইজি হওয়ার লাইনে আছেন এমন কয়েকজনের বিরুদ্ধে মামলাও আছে। ৫ আগস্টের অভ্যুত্থানের পর এখনো আড়ালেই আছেন এমন কর্তাও পেতে যাচ্ছেন প্রমোশন।

There are also cases against some who are in line to become Additional IG. After the coup of August 5, the boss who is still in hiding is also going to get promotion.
