In this video Ritesh Lakhi recalls a dramatic turn of events following a hyperbolic show by ZEE News in the year 2006. The show termed Deshdroh was aimed at following up the remnants of Khalistan movement and it's vocal proponents Jagjit Singh Chohan, Simranjit Singh Mann and others. However, the post production and treatment of the show ended up creating a huge controversy as the then Punjab leader of Opposition and Chief Minister, Prakash Singh Badal and Captain Amarinder Singh traded charges on the floor of Punjab Vidhan assembly.
THE documentary report blown out of proportion was blown further out of proportion and an FIR was lodged against Simranjit Singh Mann, Jagjit Singh Chohan fews days later.
The trial went on for over 12 years and concluded in the acquittal of Simranjit Singh Mann from the charges in 2018. Before the verdict Ritesh Lakhi had to depose in the court and prosecution declared him hostile without summoning or calling the Zee News management or journalists who reported the case in 2006 or any other co panelists including Ajit Doval, now National Security Advisor, who actively debated the show in 2006.
With all relevant links missing and Ritesh Lakhi refusing to depose against Simranjit Singh Mann, Mann got acquitted.
