Описание: There are two types of nephrons in the human kidney: cortical nephrons and juxtamedullary nephrons. Cortical nephrons form about 85% of all nephrons and are mainly located in the renal cortex. Their glomeruli lie in the outer cortex, the loop of Henle is short, and the vasa recta is absent or poorly developed; these nephrons primarily function in filtration and excretion of waste products. In contrast, juxtamedullary nephrons constitute about 15% of nephrons and are situated near the cortex–medulla junction. Their glomeruli are close to the medulla, the loop of Henle is long and extends deep into the medulla, and the vasa recta is well developed, making them essential for urine concentration and water conservation.
