SNP MSP's damning admission on reaction to HPMAs policy as constituents 'unanimously opposed'

The SNP's Highly Protected Marine Areas (HPMAs) plans were trashed in parliament last night - with many SNP MSP’s, including Fergus Ewing who ripped up the government’s consultation in the Holyrood chamber, voicing considerable opposition to it.
HPMAs will see strict limits on human activity such as swimming and aquaculture in at least 10 per cent of Scotland’s waters.
The proposals have been met with a “huge backlash” from some coastal communities.
SNP member Alisdair Allan said: 'I have never known my constituency to be so apparently unanimously opposed to any single policy in all my time serving as an MSP as this.'
He continued: 'It's not just those involved in the fishing industry, literally everyone who has spoken to me or written to me on this issue locally has expressed TOTAL opposition to the proposals as they stand.'
