India’s quantum revolution has quietly begun—and it’s starting in Amaravati. This November, Andhra Pradesh will deploy the country’s first indigenously built quantum computer: an 8-qubit system developed by Bengaluru-based startup QpiAI. Unlike global players like IBM or Google, this is homegrown quantum hardware built for real-world impact across agriculture, water, and healthcare.
With use-cases focused on precision farming, smart water management, and diagnostics in rural health systems, this quantum system is a practical deployment—not a lab prototype. Backed by the National Quantum Mission and supported by DST, ISRO, and IIT Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh is building a full-stack ecosystem: from quantum chips to school-level STEM education.
Led by QpiAI founder Nagendra Nagarajan and championed by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, this marks a turning point for Indian deep tech. Amaravati isn’t just testing quantum—it’s operationalising it. With future plans including a 156-qubit IBM-2 system and quantum-secure communication pilots, Andhra is emerging as India’s quantum capital.
Watch how India’s future in quantum computing is being built—state-first, startup-led, and sovereignty-driven.
