Riverbank erosion: An enduring problem in Assam

Описание: With the onset of monsoon, Assam faces the long-standing problem of river bank erosion every year by the Brahmaputra, Barak and its tributaries.
And this time is no different as reports of bank erosion have surfaced in several parts of the state namely Kamalpur, Nagarbera and Dhokuwakhana.
Bank erosion by the rivers has been a serious issue over the past several decades as more than 4.27 lakh hectares of land was already eroded away by river Brahmaputra and its tributaries.
