Thematic Panel 3: Preventing Extremism Through Education
Education can play a vital role in preventing extremism and violent extremism, providing opportunities to build resilience, and conversely, can be a potential site of radicalization. Ten years from the advent of the Abu Dhabi Memorandum on Good Practices for Education & Countering Violent Extremism, the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) and Hedayah have been exploring new lessons learned for the intersection of education and preventing and countering extremism and violent extremism, and this panel will reflect on recent research in this area.
