Completion of our parkrun Power BI semantic model upgrade

Описание: We have now completed the semantic model update, expanding from the initial four local authorities to a model that utilises dataflows for parkrunners, volunteers, and events. Suddenly, we have a simple enterprise-grade solution that could be lifted and shifted to any area. Even outside the UK, as the concept of a Local Authority is not global, you would not have to use them in the same way we do here. It could be State in the US for example.

We do briefly look at practical error handling within Power Automate. The surface-level stuff we show is just that, surface-level. There are levels of depth and complexity that you can implement if you need to for your business logic. Remember, there is rarely a global solution to a data challenge. We can work with your organisation to implement the error handling that best suits your requirements within the confines of your data reality.

We take some time to look at Apps as well and underline the importance of an App strategy within your organisation, we recommend minimising the number of apps you expect people to use, so combining multiple content from multiple semantic models into one app is the right thing to do. You must build your content around the users not the developers.

Finally we look at our Metrics or Scorecards, it is annoying that we cannot share the scorecards within out public Power BI content, so while the items will just show the refreshing animation, they will not load, we must show you can present top level KPI's within reports, this encourages you to put your Improvement activities into your scorecards, that way you can monitor success or failure, after all if an improvement cannot be measured is it an improvement?
