For DCSWA's first virtual watch party, we checked out the Dust episode of Netflix’s docuseries Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything. Following the viewing we were lucky enough to be joined by Connected's host Latif Nasser and showrunner David Mettler, to ask about their experiences creating the show (Q&A moderated by DCSWA board member Sam Jones).
This video is of the Q&A following the watch party. It begins with Latif's describing his path to science journalism starting as a graduate student studying the history of science (apologies for the abrupt start!).
A bit about Latif and David:
Latif Nasser is well-known for his work in audio, as co-host of the award-winning WNYC Studios show Radiolab and the miniseries The Other Latif. Now he’s adding video to his resume as the host and executive producer of Connected, a Netflix science documentary series where he investigates the ways in which we are connected to each other and the universe.
David Mettler has been working in the non-fiction industry as a showrunner, director, writer, and producer since 2001. His work has appeared on Netflix, PBS, VICELAND, CNN, MSNBC, MTV, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and more.
