Vintique Motors is pleased to present this 1980 International Scout II Traveler Turbo Diesel 4x4.

The Scout was first introduced by International Harvester for the 1961 model year as rugged off-road oriented utility vehicles were becoming increasingly popular. Designed as a direct competitor to the Jeep CJ, the Scout 80 debuted in late 1960 as a 1961 and throughout the '60's improvements were made until the Scout II debuted in 1971. It remained largely unchanged until 1976 when it received several updates including the additional of an extended wheelbase version dubbed the Traveler. The Scout culminated with the 1980 model year as International chose to focus on heavier duty trucks and discontinued the Scout model in October of 1980.

This example was built in August of 1980 and is finished in a pleasing color combo of code 3201 International Copper with a White top over a Sierra Tan interior. Per the line setting ticket, it was sold new to Hawaiian Equipment Co. of Hilo, Hawaii and is believed to have been in Hawaii as late as 1982 per the last bumper registration that is still present. It then came back to the mainland and spent the rest of its existence in the Seattle, Washington area until August of 2020 when it moved to the Chicago, Illinois area with what is presumed to be its third owner.

This example is well equipped with a number of options including the 1-year only SD33T 198ci inline 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine sourced from Nissan mated to a T427 4-speed manual transmission with TC196 2-speed transfer case 4x4 system with manually locking hubs and a 3.73 rear axle. It is equipped with the deluxe exterior trim package and the sierra tan interior trim package which included bucket seats. It is also equipped with power brakes with front discs, power steering, air conditioning, HD springs, HD bumpers electric clock, cigar lighter, a AM push button radio, stainless steel wheel covers, 19 gallon fuel tank, jerry can, spare tire, and a removable hardtop with luggage rack. It is currently equipped with Goodyear 235/75 tires on original 15" wheels. It shows just 86,213 miles on the odometer in which the mileage is believed to be original. An oil change reminder sticker still present showing it to be due for service at 88,795 miles in September of 2005 indicates this rig has seen extremely limited use since the mid-2000's.

Also, uniquely present is a Seattle Yacht Club sticker from the previous long-term owners’ affinity for boating. It shows in all original condition today with patina and evidence of use as these were originally intended but still in genuinely nice condition. It was undercoated from new with Tuff-Kote undercoating and there is no rust to be found on the body with the original undercoating still present and in good shape. It also features a CB radio and comes with several replacement service parts including two tires. It runs and drives very well, and everything is in good working order and it was also recently serviced and is ready for the road.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a late and desirable 1980 model survivor of the iconic and highly desirable Scout II Traveler with the rare Nissan turbo diesel with low mileage and in a desirable color scheme.
