Taucho is a good thermal spot in Tenerife.
The best wind direction is North here.
But Taucho take of face to West directions.
But usually when the wind is west
Taucho is not flyable just if the wind
Forecast show low km/h wind speed.
If the Wind forecast show North direction 30km/h
or more, it is still perfect to fly in Taucho because the
North wind direction is coming little bit behind from the right.
But Because Teide is not that far behind Taucho
with its 3700m hight, So it change wind directions too.
Taucho is the Lee side at this time and safety to fly.
No Turbulence at the take off because usually
Few km/h hour wind or thermal wind come up to easily take off.
Even when is totally no wind its easy to take off if you are able to
run fast.
If the strong wind is coming from sides at the take off and it is
turbulence
until you fly little ahead.
The landing area is quit big at the moment because there is some
kind of
Constructions is going there.
From the take off you are able to get thermal and follow the
mountains to
Ifonche and El Conde. If you are able to get above El Conde, there
is always Thermal condition to get higher if the cloud base is not low.
Even when there is dark cloud all over those whole mountains and it
is flyable with good lift.
Of course i am not talking about the storm cloud but tenerife’s mountains
most of time covered by cloud.
In the perfect weather condition it is possible to do XC to Guimar what is
minimum 50 km. But not many people did that.
If you are landing on the beach, it is possible there is more windy
as the Tropicana landing area.
If you passed the Tropicana landing area but you are not able to
get to the beach there is also options to land around the golf course .
