Scripture: Matthew 3:13-17

Baptized Heart Prayer for Sunday School

You’ll Need:
-Washable markers
-2 sheets of paper per child
-Newspaper or a plastic tablecloth
-Tub or bowl of water
-Paper towels to dry off

Get Ready:
Tell kids that today they’re going to pray as they create this heart. Encourage kids to talk to God as they color their hearts.

Do This:
Have kids follow these steps:
-Draw a heart on one sheet of paper.
-Think about what you’d like to pray about today.
-Pray about that silently as you use the washable markers to fill in the heart three times.

Once the heart is finished, have kids follow these steps:
-Bring the heart and a blank sheet of paper to the teacher.
-“Baptize” the heart by dipping it in the water.
-Immediately lay the blank sheet of paper over the wet heart.
-Flip the paper and press down without tearing the paper.
-Separate the papers and allow to dry.

What children will see is an artistic transfer of the heart from one page to the other.
