1) The Earl of Ross was the ruler of the province of Ross in northern Scotland – first was Malcolm MacHeth (d. 1168) - Gules three lions rampant argent. Crest – An eagle displayed. Supporters – Two lions.

2) Balnagowan, co. Ross – Hugh Ross of Rarichies, later the 1st of Balnagowan (1374) – took over as Chief of Clan Ross after the death of William III, 5th Earl of Ross in 1372 - Gules three lions rampant argent. Crest – A hand holding a garland of laurel proper. Supporters – Two savages wreathed head and middle with laurel.

3) Kindace, co. Ross - Malcom Ross of Kindeace (1624-1695) – grandson of Nicholas Ross, 1st Laird of Pitcalnie. - Gules three lions rampant argent within a bordure counter-compony of the second and first. Crest – A fox passant proper.

4) Charles Ross, son of William Ross of Kildace, 1672 - Gules three roses slipped proper in fess between as many lions rampant argent. Crest – A fox issuant with a rose in his mouth proper.

5) George Ross (d. 1703) of Morinchie & Inverbreakie - Gules three lions rampant between as many stars argent. Crest – A fox’s head couped proper.

6) Henning, co. Ayr – Sir Robert de Ros (d. 1227) an Anglo-Norman feudal baron – bore Gules, three water bougets argent - Or a chevron counter-embattled between three water bougets sable.

7) Portavoe, Northern Ireland & Ireland, 1681 - Robert Ross (1670-1570), son of George Ross (b. 1650) - estate owned by Captain James Ross in 1732 - Or, on a chevron counter-embattled between three water bougets sable a thistle slipped of the field between two cinquefoils ermine. Crest – A rose tree bearing roses proper.

8) Lord Ross - The title of Lord Ross was a Lordship of Parliament in the Peerage of Scotland - It was created in 1499 for Sir John Ross, of Halkhead.

9) Lamer Park, co. Hereford, England - Major-General Alexander Ross of Savile Row (1742-1827)- son Charles Ross Esq. (1799-1860), Member of Parliament. - Sable three padlocks or, in a fess, an escutcheon charged with a boar’s head erased gules between three water bougets of the first. Crest – A branch of laurel erect proper.

10) borne by Sir John Ross (1777-1856) of the Royal Navy for his discoveries in the Arctic – son of Rev. Andrew Ross of Balsarroch and his wife Elizabeth Corsane - Gules three estoiles in chevron between as many lions rampant argent, thereon a celestial globe proper. Crests: 1st, Ross, a fox’s head erased proper: 2nd: On a rock a flagstaff erect thereon hoisted the union jack.
