This post doesn't know what it wants to be.

Is it a progress report, or some kind of retrospective? Action reel? Is it a means to open up about all of the mental/physical challenges that not only inhibited my training and lifelong, automatic, undoable passion for the martial arts/gymnastics/etc., all of which form like Voltron to become one of my favourite anti-depressants, anti-drugs, and spondylolisthesis-bustin’ hobbies?

It's all of that, I guess; as well as a biiig thank you to all of you who love, support, and believe in me no matter where I’m at in terms of skill level/overall personal development. No matter where I was at on my own, uh. “Path,” so to speak.

Life’s one Helluva journey innit.

I love you all more than just a little bit. My family/friends, colleagues, the incredible stunt team(s) and performers with whom I’ve been fortunate enough to work with and learn from, my trainers/coaches, life-changing physiotherapist, therapist, doctor, my cats, I could go on and on. But in lieu of overthinking any further, I’ve decided that it’s best to just… kick this outta the nest so’s not to fret over whether it comes off as X or Y, or whether it’s complete/well-made; if only to put this chapter behind me so that I can start to share in a much more accessible, frequent, and bite-sized fashion.

I mean, maybe this’s just meant to serve as a peek behind-the-scenes for whoever’s interested. i.e. When I booked the part on #TheFlash I was overjoyed/overwhelmed. Among all kinds of fun/compelling questions, how was a human being supposed to hold their own against a meta like #Frost? To me, #Chillblane would have to not only be a brilliant scientist, strategist, and more, he'd also have to be or at least look and feel like a capable fighter, too.

I recall having something like two weeks to rise out of lockdown to whoop myself into shape before my first day on set for SE7EP7; and even though I wasn’t satisfied with the results at first, by SE7EP11, I felt preeettyyy dialed in. In preparation for SE9, I’m working as hard as I can to take everything to the next level. Whatever that is/ends up being.

As ever, it's not what I look like (or don't) that even close to truly matters. We'd go to similar lengths for a role calling for the opposite of what this one might. But because of the way the character was written--initially obnoxious and obnoxiously ab-y, a human being we would ideally hate to love and love to hate as he tried to hold his own against a meta despite getting his ass whooped repeatedly--I saw it as a motivational gift; a reason turned into a responsibility to push myself to push myself in certain and various ways. That said, not unlike anything of value in life, the recomposition process (particularly if I'm out of shape entirely at first) is a process; and process takes relentless effort as it takes some measure of decisive resilience to a lot of necessary/illuminating failure/obstacles, too.

Getting to feel healthier/happier on the other side for a minute, is just one of discipline's many un-nasty side-effects.
