This is the first hadith in the collection of 8 additional narrations added by Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī (d. 795H) to complement Imām al-Nawawī’s Arbaʿīn.
📜 The Hadith:
عن عبد الله بن عباس رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ:
"الْحِقُوا الْفَرَائِضَ بِأَهْلِهَا، فَمَا أَبْقَتِ الْفَرَائِضُ فَلِأَوْلَى رَجُلٍ ذَكَرٍ"
“Give the shares of inheritance to those who are entitled to them. Then whatever remains should go to the closest male relative.”
— Narrated by al-Bukhārī and Muslim
