In November 2018 we had the opportunity to visit the Karen Tribe's native elephants in their village in Northern Thailand. We were put off by the very many more commercial/ touristy elephant parks that can be found closer to Chiang Mai itself. We were looking for something with a more conservation theme where we knew the elephants were being cared for as well as possible, so when we came across the chance to help care for an elephant for a day, and learn a bit more about elephant welfare, we jumped at the chance.
And what a great day it was!
