Gears of War 2 is a third-person shooter developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The story follows the continued struggle between the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) and the Locust Horde, who are attempting to destroy humanity by sinking every city on the planet Sera.

Sergeant Marcus Fenix leads Delta Squad deep beneath the planet’s surface in a desperate assault on Locust territory, aiming to put an end to the invasion once and for all. Players take control of Fenix throughout the main campaign, with the option for cooperative play, allowing a second player to step in as his closest friend and fellow squad member, Dominic Santiago.

In addition to the story campaign, Gears of War 2 features a variety of multiplayer modes, including intense five-on-five battles between COG soldiers and Locust forces. The game also introduces the popular Horde Mode, where up to five players team up to survive increasingly difficult waves of Locust enemies.
