In India we have a very long tradition of banning anything we disagree with. Censorship is deeply rooted within the country’s history. We have banned movies we do not approve of, paintings that we find offensive, books that hurt our religious beliefs and even free speech. The sword has now come to hang on the heads of the OTT platforms. From ‘Tandav’, ‘Mirzapur’ to ‘Bombay Begums’ and ‘Paatal Lok’, the list of “offensive content” is endless. Your favourite movies and TV shows are under a major threat of censorship in India. However, the rules are not the same for all!
So, let us take a look at the censorship of OTT platforms and why it is undemocratic?
