The Daily Mirror’s Royal Editor Russell Myers reveals the UK government’s stance on Prince Harry’s request for taxpayer funded security.
It comes as the Prince is reportedly set to appeal the decision to uphold the ban on the security when he is in the UK.
“The argument still remains that Harry has left the Royal Family – he owns tens and tens of millions of dollars in the corporate world, and he should be able to afford security for himself and his family,” Mr Myers told Sky News Australia host Sharri Markson.
“His argument has always been he doesn’t feel safe bringing his wife and children to the UK.
“He feels as a son of the King, and a former member of the armed services that he is under threat all the time.
"The British government’s point of view is that threat is certainly perceived by Harry, and possibly not in the real world a lot of the time.”
