Roberto-Venn visits Rob Timmons at Arcane Inc., where they specialize in custom hand-wound guitar pickups with a ton of visual appeal. Rob actually wound his first guitar pickup in 1990 while attending the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery. Since then he's worked, in a variety of roles, for numerous companies in the guitar industry.

As a consultant, Rob helped Tyler Guitars founder and namesake Jim Tyler (www.tylerguitars.com) develop the Tyler pickup line, and built the first 500 Tyler pickups in the Arcane shop. He also worked on a project with highly respected pickup builder Tom Holmes that eventually became his Japanese line (Prior to the formation of Arcane Inc.).

Rob started Arcane, Inc. with the goal of producing the highest quality, most uncompromised, hand-made pickups in the industry. Since then he's worked with many respected names. Today, Rob consults with guitar companies on pickup design and construction, and builds pickups on an OEM basis for James Trussart Guitars. I've also seen his pickups in Echo Park Guitars, which are very cool, boutique beauties. He also sells to musicians and distributors all over the world.

Rob is very passionate about his work, and has a deep understanding of what makes a tonally superior pickup. The products that come out of his shop reflect his top-notch craftsmanship and are the culmination of all the knowledge he's gained from working in the guitar industry for many years.
