The last time we saw Chunk on cam two weeks ago, he was looking pretty rough. Today, he showed all the bears at Katmai that he’s not ready to go back to the bear infirmary and that he is still in charge. He came in through the bear portal, marked a tree, then went into the river to catch fresh fish or eat some hearty leftovers - he was not about to waste good salmon. “I heard about the big July 4th buffet and I am healed up enough to come enjoy it! Don’t think you’re taking over this river, it’s mine!” Good to see the guy healing up so well - the limp is less pronounced and although he is chewing a bit messy, the food is still going down where it’s needed to build up that winter fat.
