In today’s video, I’m sharing my complete experience of purchasing different types of lily bulbs online, inspecting them, treating them safely, and repotting them the right way for healthy growth and blooming. If you’re confused about how deep to plant lily bulbs, which pot to use, soil mix, fungicide treatment, or post-repotting care, this video will answer everything step by step.

Many gardeners lose lily bulbs due to rot, fungal infection, or wrong planting depth, so in this video, I’ve explained everything I personally follow, especially when bulbs arrive from online stores.

🧪 BULB TREATMENT – VERY IMPORTANT STEP

Before planting, I treat the bulbs with a soft fungicide.
This step helps to:
• Prevent fungal rot
• Protect bulbs from infection
• Improve sprouting success

⚠️ I always recommend mild/soft fungicide, especially for home gardeners, and never skipping this step for online-purchased bulbs.
🪴 POT SELECTION FOR LILY BULBS

• Use a deep pot with drainage holes
• Clay, cement, or sturdy plastic pots work well
• Avoid shallow containers
• One medium pot is ideal for 1–2 bulbs (depending on size)

Good drainage is non-negotiable for lilies.

🌾 SOIL MIX FOR HEALTHY ROOTS

I use a well-draining, airy soil mix that allows roots to grow freely and prevents waterlogging. Heavy or compact soil can rot the bulb, so soil preparation is key.

📏 CORRECT PLANTING DEPTH

One of the most common mistakes is planting too shallow or too deep.

✔️ Bulbs should be planted at the correct depth so the roots and stem develop properly
✔️ Pointed side facing upward
✔️ Cover gently with soil, don’t press too hard

This ensures strong growth and better flowering later.

• Water lightly after planting
• Do not overwater
• Keep soil slightly moist, not soggy

Overwatering at this stage can cause bulb rot.
