Ayodhya is an ancient city in Uttar Pradesh, India, revered as the birthplace of Lord Rama in Hindu tradition. The Ram Janmabhoomi, or the birthplace of Rama, has been a focal point of religious and historical significance.
The history of Ayodhya is deeply intertwined with the Ramayana, an ancient Indian epic. The disputed site gained prominence when the Babri Masjid was constructed by Mughal Emperor Babur in 1528. Over the centuries, disputes arose regarding the actual location of Lord Rama's birth, culminating in tensions between Hindu and Muslim communities.
In 1992, a political rally at the disputed site escalated into a demolition of the Babri Masjid by a group of activists, sparking communal tensions across India. This event remains a significant and sensitive chapter in the country's history.
Now that the temple has been built again at the same place, the whole country is celebrating this occasion as a festival.
