Kansas LEND Family Education Series - January 2026 - Autism and Law Enforcement

Описание: As a parent with a child who has been diagnosed with autism or a related disability you don't know what you don't know. The Kansas Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (Kansas LEND) at the University of Kansas Medical Center provides sessions on topics that are relevant to everyday lives in the families of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the lifespan with the Family Education Series.

The Kansas LEND Family Education Series - Bridging Understanding; Autism and IDD Safety Programs with Law Enforcement presented by Undersheriff Matthew Kelly of the Miami County Sheriff Department and Amanda Randazzo Dispatch Shift Supervisor at the Riley County Sheriff Department was recorded on Thursday, January 8th.

Bridging Understanding: Autism and IDD Safety Programs with Law Enforcement will highlight safety initiatives designed to support families and caregivers of individuals with cognitive disabilities. Attendees will learn what to look for, ask about, and advocate for in their communities, and will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A focused on how law enforcement agencies approach safety, communication, and support for autistic and IDD individuals.
