I needed another cart writer that I can actually plug into my PC. All my sanni units are great, but sometimes those units don't work for what I want to do. Enter this open source reader. This particular piece of hardware is rather old. The design has been floating around for nearly 15 years (or more even, it's hard to say for sure) but the most recent iteration is from jrodrigo: https://www.tindie.com/products/jrodr...
This is not a fast cart flasher. Nor does it have a ton of features. What it does have going for it is that it's relatively simple and the console interface is rather powerful as a diagnostic tool. MrHDR has recreated the open source design and started to design cart flashers around it and has even updated the interface software to add features.
This is the particular revision that I built (well, that I based mine on since I added the CC lines): https://github.com/HDR/GBFlasher-Mini
but I'd recommend building a different reader. Either make a Micro USB one: https://github.com/HDR/GBFlasher-Micro or a USB A one: https://github.com/HDR/GBFlasher-Plug
Software can be downloaded here (you may have to install the driver or plug your reader in before the software will boot): https://github.com/HDR/GBFlasher-Soft...
If you want to build one yourself, all the files you need are in the github links above. If you want to purchase a pre-built one, hop on the Game Boy discord (discord.gg/gameboy) and we can discuss options there. I don't sell these.
