Due to the LPG gas shortage in metro cities, the demand for induction stoves has surged sharply. Induction cooktops are already sold out on apps like Blinkit and Zepto, and several brands are showing out of stock on Amazon.
Now the real question is - is cooking with LPG cheaper or an electric stove?
A 14.2 kg LPG cylinder currently costs around ₹913. If you cook the same amount of food on an induction stove, it typically consumes around 75-80 units of electricity. At an electricity rate of 8 per unit, that equals about ₹624 in power cost.
This simple comparison shows induction cooking can be nearly 300 cheaper than using one LPG cylinder. However, if electricity rates are higher in your area, the
cost of induction cooking can also increase.
Also remember, a good quality induction stove usually starts around ₹3000 in India.
