Assam govt mulls marriage law; couples to disclose income, occupation & religion before marriage

Описание: The Assam government is mulling to bring a new marriage law in the state which makes it mandatory for the couples to disclose their income, occupation, and religion a month prior to marriage.

The man and woman will be subjected to legal action if they fail to give the disclosure before the marriage. Assam Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma says that this law will bring a major transparency in the institution of marriage. It will empower women. According to the minister this law does not have anything to do with 'Love Jihad'. More information on the implementation of the law is waited, stay tuned!
