Follow the story of one of the most complex projects undertaken by the Art Gallery’s conservation team.
For decades E Phillips Fox’s painting 'Autumn showers' 1900 was considered beyond repair and unsuitable for display.
Using innovative conservation materials and techniques to clean, stabilise and repair damage to the artwork and frame, the conservation team has returned 'Autumn showers' to its former glory.
