Описание: Sufism came in India in the 11th century with the arrival of Data Ganj Baksh (Al Hujwiri) in Punjab. However, at a bigger level, it was afvter the defeat of the Rajput ruler Prithviraj Chauhan that Sufis came to India in large numbers. Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was one of the earliest Sufi saints to come to India during the 13th century and whose tomb is located in Ajmer. Likewise his successors like Qutubuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki and Baba Farid and Nizamuddin Aulia also played an imp role in spreading Sufism to India. While many Sufi sects like the Chisthtis did not actively convert, others like Suhrawardi sect were actively involved in conversions in the north west like Punjab, Sind and Multan.
