On March 29, 2015, Air Canada Flight 624 crashed during landing in Halifax. The Airbus A320 struck power lines hundreds of meters before the runway, cut electricity to the entire airport, lost its landing gear and both engines… yet no one on board was killed.
In this video, we reconstruct what happened minute by minute: a snowstorm, a non-precision approach, visual illusion, dimmed approach lights, errors in the airline’s procedures, and the moment the crew realized the aircraft was not heading for the runway, but for the ground.
We analyze why a fully operational aircraft descended below the glide path, why the EGPWS issued no warning, and how an omitted altitude–distance cross-check nearly ended in tragedy with 138 people on board.
