Konga Goshala at Kadayur, Kangayam was started in 2014 with the sole intention of protecting and conserving the endangered Konga cows of Tamilnadu. Each of the 24 naadus of kongu naadu has konga cows unique to that region and Konga goshala research team is involved in identifying and preserving the breeds unique to that particular region some which are already extinct or on the verge of extinction.
It also aims to serve as an educational campus for farmers to learn the art of making native cow based products such as Vibhuti (basma), Go Ark, Panchagavya medicines and other household products such as soap, hair oil, shampoo, etc.
Healthy and pregnant cows are sold for slaughter. The aim of Konga goshala is also to raise the awareness of the plight of such cows and to work with all cow lovers to save our Gomatha.
