During the entire month of June 2011, 7 Scandinavian artists, Diana Andersson, Eva Ziggy Berglund, Dag Birkeland, Alena Matejka, Lars Widenfalk, Yemisi Wilson and myself, Inger Sannes participated in a sculpture symposium at the active Querciola marble quarry above Colonnata Basin in Carrara, Italy. Owned by the Patacchi family and their company Mega Stone Factory, the quarry is one of the largest in the area. This film directed by Gianpiero Tartagni is a record of the symposium over the course of thouse four weeks at the Querciola quarry.
The project was initiated and organized by Inger Sannes, supported and sponsored by the State Arts Grants Council Sweden, the Swedish and the Norwegian Embassies in Rome, The Swedish Institute for Classical Studies in Rome, Commune of Carrara, Mega Stone Factory, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Carrara, Fondazione Sem, Volvo Trucks Italy, Fantini Sud Spa Italy, Atlas Coco Italy, SAS Institute Sweden.
