Walking the iconic Byodoin Temple grounds, riverside and quiet neighborhoods as sun sets in Uji, Japan. Byodoin sits on the Uji River, just a few kilometers south east of Kyoto, and is famous for its place on the back of the ten yen coin. I had never been to Uji, so I was not sure what to expect. The temple is a tourist attraction, but I found both the temple and the riverside very nice places to walk. There are a number of nice bridges over the river, and quiet streets with beautiful houses on either side of it. This was my first time in Uji, but it's definitely on my 'revisit' list. I hope you enjoy the walk and a quick look at Uji in the sunset, golden hour, and early evening.
